Violin instruction in my studio is centered on nurturing the whole musician; in addition to learning repertoire and developing excellent technique, my students learn to sight-read, understand music theory, and improvise. In rare moments of generosity, I’m even been known to teach a fiddle tune or two! My goal is not to have a studio of virtuoso violinists, though most of my students perform at a high level, and many go on to major or minor in music. Rather, I seek to develop a life-long love of music in my students by providing a warm, challenging, and encouraging atmosphere of learning. I want them to graduate from my studio having developed self-confidence, perseverance, and grit, with a deep appreciation for music and a desire to make the world a more beautiful place through their own music-making.
I teach Suzuki violin and viola lessons at her home studio, which is located in Greensboro near the Science Center. Private lessons are offered weekly (year-round) with breaks coordinated with the Guilford County Schools. Group classes (included in tuition and a vital part of the Suzuki experience) are held on Thursday afternoons in collaboration with Suzuki Talent Education of the Piedmont. I strongly believe that my students should be involved as music-makers in their community, and I enjoy organizing frequent performances for them both at home and abroad!
